UPSL Academy East Region Championship Cup Final Set for August 4th
This weekend will see teams from across the UPSL Academy East Region will compete in the league’s first-ever Academy Championship Cup in Atlanta, Georgia. Comprised of 15 top UPSL Academy teams in the U13, U15 and U17 age groups, the event marks the first leg of the Academy Championship Series, with the West Region teams set to kick off in two weeks’ time.
Group stage competition for the East Region begins this Friday evening, with the Championship matches being played on Sunday, live on UPSL YouTube. All matches will be played at MOBA Soccer Academy Complex (1000 Moba Dr. Peachtree City, Georgia)
“It’s a tremendous opportunity to have our U15 Boys team competing for a Regional Championship in the inaugural UPSL Academy Championship series.” Explains Villarreal Virginia Academy Executive Director, Bo Amato.
“We’re excited for the chance to compete for another trophy in between our Spring and Fall seasons, and even more excited to see the growth of the UPSL Academy Division. Along with the MLS, the UPSL is one of the only both youth and adult league in the United States and we’re more than excited to take on this new challenge.”
Travelling all the way from New Jersey to compete for a UPSL Academy cup, Black River Athletics Head Coach Jesse Aporta explains what this competition means for his group.
“The UPSL does a lot of things really well on the adult side and we are looking forward to a similarly high-level competition on the Academy side. We are excited to compete in a UPSL Academy division that seeks to replicate the accessibility and impact that the UPSL Men’s division has. This competition creates a pathway for opportunity and exciting chance to showcase our best players.”
Group stage play for all age groups will begin on Friday, with the action continuing all through out Saturday. Sunday, August 4th the U13 Championship match will be played at 9:00AM EST, the U15 Final will kick off 11:00AM EST and the U17s will play at 1:00PM EST.
